A memorandum was signed at the Ministry of Justice, according to which the representative office of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) in the South Caucasus is established in Georgia.
The aforementioned memorandum was signed by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Justice, Tea Tsulukiani; Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Mikheil Chkhenkeli; Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Giorgi Sharvashidze and Director of the European Public Law Organization, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Professor Spyridon Flogaitis.
The European Public Law Organization (EPLO) is an international organization that aims to spread European values through public law and governance.
The Agreement, on the one hand, with the European Public Law Organization and, on the other hand, between the Ministry of Justice of Georgia; the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport and Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University is another recognition of the advancement made by our country in the field of realization of European values.
Deputy Minister of Justice, Gocha Lortkipanidze and President of Caucasus University, Kakha Shengelia made a significant contribution to the process of reaching an agreement and were actively involved throughout the course.
It is important that, according to the agreement, the South Caucasus Representation of the European Public Law Organization is established in Georgia, which will support the implementation of educational and research activities and projects through cooperation with the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, the Ministry of Education and Tbilisi State University. Furthermore, as for the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, it will be possible to implement educational and research projects, as well as internships for the personnel employed by the Ministry of Justice in such areas as: European Public Law, EU Law, International Law, International Human Rights Law, Criminal Policy and Legal Reforms.
The EPLO South Caucasus Regional Office also provides educational, research and international training in this area. In addition to general education, research, training and international cooperation activities, EPLO will establish the School of European Law and Governance (ELGS) in Tbilisi, lead and implement EPLO training, educational, research and analytical projects at the national and international levels.
The EPLO Regional Branch in Georgia will have access to all EPLO scientific publications and educational resources, thus enabling all students, professors, or the public in the region to use this valuable resource. EPLO South Caucasus Regional Branch will help to deepen knowledge on a variery of issues and share best practices in European law and European governance in the process through modern scientific discussions and pooling of the best intellectual resources.
The establishment of the South Caucasus Regional Branch of the EPLO in Georgia is of paramount importance, in that the country's role in European values, public law and governance reforms in the region is obvious and transparent. The EPLO recognizes that Georgia is constantly contributing to and achieving significant results in the widespread promotion of European values and principles.
Establishing a branch in Georgia in terms of enhancing and accessing knowledge on European law and governance is valuable not only for our country, but also for the South Caucasus region as a whole.
