Under the new initiative of the Prime Minister, the rules for financing tuition fees for socially vulnerable students of higher education institutions have been defined (see Resolution 536). Nunu Mitskevichi, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia held a meeting with the representatives of the higher education institution and discussed the details of the program administration. The Deputy Minister called on the representatives of the universities to ensure that the socially vulnerable students with a score of 150,000 or less are informed about the program.
Social assistance will be provided to students who are registered in the socially vulnerable database and as of September 1, 2020 have a score of 150,000 or less and wish to study in the following disciplines: Georgian language, bachelor's degree, integrated bachelor's-master's degree in teacher training, integrated master's degree in veterinary medicine, diploma in medicine / dentistry. The program includes:
- Reimbursement of tuition fees for the fall semester of the 2020-2021 academic year;
- Repaying the debt for the spring semester of the 2019-2020 academic year;
To restore the suspended status of and obtain detailed information about the program, this category of students should apply to the relevant higher education institution.
The amount of tuition fees for socially vulnerable students is the maximum cost of one semester tuition - 1125 GEL, according to the amount of the study grant issued by the state.
