The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Giorgi Amilakhvari, within the scope of his visit to Brussels, was hosted by the Deputy Director General of the Research and Innovation Directorate of the European Commission - Signe Ratso.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the issues of strengthening Georgia's full participation in the new EU research and innovation framework program - Horizon Europe and the future plans in that direction.
The Minister thanked the Deputy Director General for her great contribution and support in the establishment of the Georgian national office of Horizon Europe. According to Giorgi Amilakhvari, the support of the Directorate General of Research and Innovation of the European Commission in internationalization of education and science system of Georgia is of particularly importance.
During the meeting, the topic of improving the quality and efficiency of scientific research in Georgia was also discussed. As the Minister noted, the government of Georgia is implementing a number of initiatives in this direction.
On his part, the Deputy Director General positively assessed the steps taken by the Georgian government in the direction of strengthening science and research sector and expressed her readiness to continue active cooperation with the Georgian side.
