St. Andrew the First Called Georgian University of the Patriarchate
of Georgia hosted the next session of the Council of Rectors. The meeting was traditionally
opened by Vice Primer Minister, the Minister of Education and Science Alexander
Jejelava, who discussed several important issues, including the existing
challenges in the field of higher education, their solutions, importance of
higher vocational programs and necessity of opening of vocational retraining
centers on the base of higher educational institutions, attracting of foreign
students and others.
The Council of Rectors of the State and Private Higher Education
Institutions listened to several issues envisaged by agenda, including the
issues related to authorization and accreditation of educational institutions,
the results of the participation of international experts in evaluation
programs of 2017 and their involvement issue in 2018 evaluation programs.
Several initiatives were also introduced at the meeting in connection to the
amendments to the Law “On Higher Education” international students and others.
