The Inclusive Education Development Division of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, in collaboration with the "Georgian Association of Social Workers” (GASW), supported by the Czech Non-governmental Organization -PIN, has implemented a project - "Supporting Psycho-Social Support System at Schools" and held a report presentation.
The project has been planned for developing mechanisms in order to support the full integration of students with special educational needs at public schools, in conjunction with strengthening the instruments to prevent the early student school dropping. The project was also involved with the integration process of the beneficiaries participating in the Transient Educational Program for Children with Disabilities.
With the overall aim of improving the integration of students with academic or social complications (especially students with the special educational needs or disabilities), social workers have worked tirelessly to motivate the local personnel. Additionally, the existing problems have been thoroughly studied, in conjunction with emphasizing the main strengths and weaknesses of school resources.
The implemented project is important and interesting at this particular stage, as the country is actively working to draft a legislation regarding the social workers. The conducted work serves to better comprehend the significance of this occupation.
