The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Mikheil
Chkhenkeli met with the UNICEF representative Laila Gad in Georgia to discuss
the existing cooperation between the two parties in conjunction with scheduling
various joint projects in the field of education and science .
The UNICEF Representative thanked the Minister for the fruitful
cooperation and personal engagement, and noted the efforts of the Ministry of
Education and Science of Georgia to create a safe environment at schools and
fight against all forms of violence. The Minister emphasized that, together
with increasing the quality of general education in Georgia, creating a safe
environment free from violence in educational institutions is one of the most
important priorities of the Ministry.
During the meeting, a particular attention was paid to the
project organized under a trilateral cooperation between the Ministry of
Education and Science of Georgia, UNICEF, and Organization for Economic
Cooperation and Development (OECD), which aims at assessing the general
education system in Georgia and envisions the development of an Action Plan.
The parties also discussed various project components and time-sized activities
in detail.
Towards the end of the meeting, Mikhel Chkhenkeli thanked the
UNICEF representative to Georgia for their continuous support and cooperation.
