The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia and the Infrastructure Builders Association (ICCA), supported by the German International Cooperation Society (GIZ), hosted the forum "Promoting development of the vocational skills in the construction sector".
The main topic of the event was the assessment and supply of vocational qualification in the construction sector in Georgia. The forum was held between the representatives of construction companies, associations, educational enterprises and ministries on how to provide the construction sector with the professional skills of European standards. Special attention was paid to the implementation of dual vocational training, which began in the fall of 2018 on seven professional programs in construction, practiced in ten construction companies and three vocational colleges.
The Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport - Irina Abuladze emphasized the need for the development of vocational skills in the field of health care, building industry (OHS), labor safety and energy efficiency.
"The construction sector is one of the fastest growing and dynamic sectors in Georgia. Private companies are constantly looking for young people with modern theoretical education, as well as practical experience and professional skills, “she said. The construction companies also emphasized the role of the private sector and their commitment to promote the employment of young people in the construction sector of Georgia.
