The state sponsors the education of more than 1,600 students living in the villages adjacent to the occupied territories of Georgia.
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia allocated a total of 4 000 000 GEL for the mentioned students in the 2019-2020 academic year.
Since 2013, the Ministry has been funding affected students living in the villages adjacent to the demarcation lines enrolled in the first and second tiers of academic higher education. Within the framework of the program, students from the following municipalities are affected: Gori, Kaspi, Kareli, Khashuri, Dusheti, Dusheti, Oni, Sachkhere, Tsalenjikha and Zugdidi.
Since 2013, funding statistics for students living in villages adjacent to the occupied territories are increasing. In 2013, the state funded only 471 students. It is noteworthy, rhat over the past seven years, the state has funded more than 7,000 students and allocated more than 15 million GEL in this regard.
The state finances each student living in the villages adjacent to the occupied territories of Georgia with a total amount of 2250 GEL.
