In cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health is conducting a series of information meetings with higher education institutions to raise awareness about the spread and vaccination of COVID-19.

The first online meetings were held with the academic and administrative staff of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and the Georgian Technical University.

Deputy Minister of Education and Science Nunu Mitskevichi took part in the meetings. She noted that with the new academic year approaching, it is becoming more and more important to create a safe learning and working environment in higher education institutions. According to the Deputy Minister, one of the important mechanisms for ensuring safe universities is the active involvement of professors and students in the vaccination process.

Ana Kasradze, Head of the Public Health Risk Preparedness and Response Division of the Georgian National Center for Disease Control and Public Health answered the questions, which arose during the meeting.

The purpose of the meetings is to keep the university community informed about the vaccination process. The format of the meetings allows participants to ask questions and get important information about vaccination issues from competent people.

Informational meetings with higher education institutions will last for a week.
