The ceremony for the National Teacher Prize was held at the Zakaria Paliashvili State Opera and Ballet Theater in Tbilisi. During the event, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze and Minister of Education, Science, and Youth Giorgi Amilakhvari addressed the audience, congratulating the finalist teachers on their achievements and emphasizing the importance of the teaching profession.
Ten exemplary teachers were awarded the National Teacher Award for 2024, along with a cash prize for their significant contributions to the development of society and the education system. The winners are:
- Vera Armenishvili, Georgian language and literature teacher at the 8th Public School of Gori
- Tamar Adamia, art teacher at the 28th Public School of Tbilisi
- Ivane Gokadze, teacher at the 41st Public School of Kutaisi
- Eka Sefiashvili, English language teacher at Dedoplistskaro First School
- Nani Kirkitadze, sports teacher at Akhalsofli School in Khelvachauri Village
- Nana Tsitsuashvili, geography teacher at the 5th Public School of Gori
- Mamuka Kuchava, art teacher at the First School of Senaki
- Ekaterine Gurgenashvili, biology and natural sciences teacher at the 4th Public School of Telavi
- Ana Anushidze, elementary grades and geography teacher at the Second School of Batumi
- Zurab Inasaridze, art teacher at the Second Public School of Akhaltsikhe
Applications for the National Teacher Award opened in April 2024 and closed in July, with over 2,000 teachers from across Georgia participating in the competition.
According to the criteria established by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth, teachers were selected based on their special contributions to the development of students, the school community, or the wider community. A special commission, composed of professionals from various fields, identified the ten winners.
It is worth noting that the National Teacher Award was established by the Government of Georgia in 2023, with the aim of recognizing meritorious teachers annually for their significant contributions to society and the education system. Winners receive a specially designed badge and a monetary award of 10,000 GEL.
