The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli, congratulates Korneli Kekelidze National Manuscripts Center of Georgia on its foundation day. 

Mikheil Chkhenkeli: "June 30 marks extremely important date in the history of Georgian science - exactly 64 years ago on this day, owing to the initiative of Professor Ilia Abuladze, a scientific institute subordinated to the Academy of Sciences was established on the premises of the Manuscripts Department of the State Museum of Georgia, which, since 2015, has been named the National Center for Georgian Manuscripts named after Korneli Kekelidze’s life work.

The National Manuscript Center is indeed an indicator of our nation's identity that needs special support and care. It is the most important repository of ancient handwritten books and historical documents in Georgia, which even today gives visitors the opportunity to see the works of outstanding Georgian scientists, writers and public figures, their personal belongings and libraries gathered inside the unique halls.

The National Center of Manuscripts will always have the full support of the Ministry and we will do everything to preserve the national treasure of Georgia - our magnificent manuscripts.

I heartily congratulate the National Center for Manuscripts, each of its employees and the entire community on this important date. I would like to express my utmost respect to the people employed at the centre, who are still faithfully serving a truly nationally important, noble cause!"
