Today, PMC Research Center in Georgia in order to attract international students, held a public hearing and a presentation of research results.

The event was attended by the Minister of Education and Science – Aleksandre Jejelava. Additionally, the event was attended by a variety interested parties such as: educational institutions, representatives from both private and public sector, as well as non-governmental organizations. According to the Minister, the internationalization of higher education is a very complex issue, and the unified concern regarding this matter would not only increase the quality of education, but also will reflect positively on the development of our ecenomy in the long run.

“As of today, Georgia has reached a certain point of development, where the country can offer a potentially competitive product, thus increasing the intellectucal and economic capaticities in the country” – said the education expert and a researcher at PMC Research Center – Ana Zhvania.

The aim of the research, is to analyze the current situation in the higher educational sustem, in conjunction with outlining the inhibitory factors for attracting the international students.

The research has outlined key factors affecting the internationalization of higher education in Georgia: recommendations and specific steps were designed, which will help to achieve the objectives. such as:

• The optimization of authorization and accrediation systems, joining the international accreditation system
• Increasing the autonomy of universities and management decentralization
• Internationaliation of academic personnel/faculty
• Creating student housing/accomodation program
• Creating student and research individual scholarship systems
• Issuing diploma in cooperation with foreign educational partners

The research was conducted by the PMC research Center, within the scope of “Research of Politics for Economic Sustainabilty” project, with the support of Conrad Adenauer Fund.
