From 2014 within the framework of Millennium Challenge Account Project "Vocational Education for Development of Economics", programs are being implemented in Georgia to assist vocational education programs. The Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Education and Science, Aleksandre Jejelava got acquainted with the results of the project and future plans within the framework of the project.
The project budget is 16 million USD funded within the framework of the second Compact of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) of USA and is aimed at assistance of employment and offering new, modern standard and vocational education programs issuing international certificate, in natural, engineering and technologies, agriculture and tourism sectors.
10 grant applications (public and private sectors) were financed within the grant contest. The total number of grants amounted to 12 million USD. 6.3 million USD was added to this amount in the form of co-financing from private and public sectors. Within the framework of financed projects, high quality vocational education programs appropriate to the labor market requirements are being elaborated and / or strengthened. Implementation of these programs promotes significant growth of employment indicator of graduates.
Also, the Account annually announces Grant Competition for Assistance of Industry Participation in the Vocational Education Sector (STPP). The contest aims at identifying the best practices of cooperation with employers, which will increase the attractiveness of vocational education. The grant volume is from 5,000 USD to 25,000 USD.
