Georgian language academic department is now successfully functioning at the Paris Oriental Languages and Civilizations University (INALCO). With the purpose of preserving and strengthening the relationship, Director of the INALCO Cabinet - Sharif Alam Shafi, visited the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Mikheil Chkhenkeli.
INALCO is the oldest and largest university in terms of Oriental language and civilization studies in the world, and is the only major university in Europe where the Georgian language is currently being studied and researched thoroughly. Mikheil Chkhenkeli confirmed the full support of the French side and expressed readiness to further enhance the cooperation. The minister noted that the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia would promote the development of the Georgian Language Academic Department at INALCO, by providing necessary qualified faculty members, PhD students and scientists from Georgia, in order to enhance the scientific research of the Georgian language, history and culture.
