The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Mikheil Chkhenkeli visited Baku State University, where he met with the Rector of Baku State University - Abel Maherov.

The meeting was also attended by the Rector of Tbilisi State University - Gia Sharvashidze and the Ambassador of Georgia to Azerbaijan - Teimuraz Sharashenidze. During the meeting the sides discussed the higher education system of the two countries and set ways for future cooperation.

Additionally, the Rector of Tbilisi State University - Gia Sharvashidze together with this Azerbaijanian counterpart signed a Memorandum of cooperation, which envisages the implementation of exchange programs for the students, in conjunction with holding joint scientific researches. It ins important to note, that Baku State University will soon be 100 years old, which is also celebrated in Georgia.

At the end of the meeting, Gia Sharvashidze handed his colleague a jubilee medal on behalf of the Tbilisi State University.
