Before the start of the national exams, the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Mikheil Chkhenkeli visited the exam centers, wished the entrants success and talked about the innovations that the Ministry will implement in the coming future.
Mikheil Chkhenkeli visited the examination centers in Tbilisi in the following public schools - №175, 173, 39, 177 and 103. The Minister observed the works carried out by the Ministry and noted that the Ministry is doing everything to ensure the national exams are carried out in calm and comfortable environment. Accordingly, for the first time in 13 years, the Ministry resolved the issue of Air Conditioning. The main challenge at this stage is the electric power grid at the examination centers that can not stand the voltage due to air conditioning. Therefore, a special cable was introduced in certain schools. Next year, all electric grids and power supplies will be replaced fully.
According to the minister, equipping a number of schools with the air conditioning is already completed. By the end the week air conditioners will be fully installed in every center. At this stage, some schools are equipped with split conditioners. Some schools are now equipped with mobile conditioners, and some are equipped with ventilators.
The exam schedule has been changed due to high temperatures - national exams will be held in the morning time, from 2 to 5 July, when the temperature is relatively cooler. Cold water dispensers will be in every exam center.
Mikheil Chkhenkeli believes that the system of national examinations should be revised. According to him, instead of July, when it is too hot, the exams should be passed in spring. There are other options, for example many foreign countries, including the United States, these types of exams are conducted during the semester. The Ministry will work in this regard.
