The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, together with the United Kingdom Good Governance Fund (GGF), has developed effective mechanisms for funding vocational education and relevant trainings. The interested parties got acquainted with the new model today. The summary meeting was opened by the Deputy Minister of Education, Tamar Kitiashvili and the Head of the Good Governance Foundation of the United Kingdom in Georgia, Ellen Vikhman.

The Unified Strategy for Education and Science of Georgia (2017-2021) points to the need for effective mechanisms for financing vocational education and training, which in turn should provide access to vocational education throughout life. With vocational education, training and labor market closer together, the government's proposed new funding model should contribute to the expansion of funding sources, generate funds, increase the involvement of the private sector, improve the distribution institutions, disciplines, and help programs and vocational education with more efficient management.

According to Tamar Kitiashvili, the new funding mechanisms, based on good international experience, will promote the popularity of vocational education. On the one hand, it focuses on developing vocational education institutions, improving the quality of teaching / learning, colleges becoming internationally standardized, and on the other hand, the model focuses on the individual, the needs of the student and offers additional services, including promoting equality in the learning process. The model also encourages the success of the institution, in particular, the college, which has achievements, operates well, by providing additional funding if requested.

At the final event, the parties once again discussed the new model, agreeing on the final option, which will be fully operational by 2021.
