Tamar Kitiashvili, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, together with the President of the Georgian Employers' Association, Elguja Meladze and the Representative of the German Embassy, Daniel Haia, opened an international conference on vocational education. The event was attended by business associations of Georgia, Germany, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Armenia, as well as the representatives of various government agencies, international organizations and the diplomatic corps.

The conference "Sharing Experiences in Vocational Education in the South Caucasus and Beyond" was organized by the Georgian Employers' Association and supported by the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs BMZ (SEQUA).

The aim of the conference was to discuss the results of the current project in Georgia, the challenges, achievements and opportunities in the field of vocational education.

The Deputy Minister spoke about the ongoing and planned projects in the field of vocational education. The parties also discussed the next stages of vocational education reform and future initiatives.

"The priority of the Ministry of Education is to share the responsibility for the implementation of vocational education reform with the private sector, because only with joint planning and efforts will we be able to achieve the target goals. It is important to work together to develop a work-based learning component. This practice already exists in Georgia and it contributes to the development of vnalocatio experience and career management skills amongst the young people." - Tamar Kitiashvili stated.

The international conference is part of the project "Vocational Training and Partnership Project in the South Caucasus", implemented by the Business Union - Georgian Employers' Association since 2017 with its partner German organizations and the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs BMZ (SEQUA). The aim of this project is to increase the involvement of businesses in the field of vocational education and the competitiveness of young people in the local labor market. The activities carried out within the project contributed to the increase of awareness about vocational education and the involvement of private businesses in vocational education reform.
