With the Prime Minister-led Interagency Coordination Council in place to prevent coronavirus, holidays at educational institutions were prolonged until April 1.

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia is actively working on the postponement of the curriculum, granted the Ministry assists  schools to modify their curriculum so that the goals of the national curriculum can be achieved.

In this regard, the Ministry, together with the experts of the National Curriculum, has developed recommendations containing specific instructions and activities for general education institutions.

According to above-mentioned recommendations, schools are required to provide students with educational  resources through various means of communication, in conjunction with schools mustering parent involvement and counseling during the holidays to support independent student learning.

Within the framework of the developed plan, one of the alternative communication tools is the provision of technology-based distance learning through Microsoft TEAMS, a software that involves the use of Microsoft Office 365 products in the distance learning process. In this regard, Deputy Minister - Ekaterine Dgebuadze held a meeting with representatives of the Education Management Information System.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the possibilities of Microsoft TEAMS product and discussed the challenges of introducing e-learning.

In 2019, the Education Management Information System acquired the full package of Microsoft office licensing, including the Teams product, which has already been established at schools for more than a year.

In addition, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia will continue to actively distribute free resources on the portal www.el.ge.
