The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli visited the First Gymnasium of Tbilisi and the newly built Public School №220 and personally congratulated the students on the renewal of the educational process in classrooms.

Mikheil Chkhenkeli: “I would like to wholeheartedly congratulate the elementary school students who returned to classrooms today and have the ability to continue their studies in the school environment. School environment is a natural setting for the learning process. At this point in time, it is our goal for all students to return to school. Therefore, I would like to ask and remind the public once again to follow the guidelines and health recommendations issued by Medical experts to enable our youth to return to classrooms.”

With the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, a school of modern standards was built at 58, Nine Brothers Street in Tbilisi. The general educational institution with a capacity of 350 students has modern educational areas, a library and a gym. Its recreational zone was set up within the close proximity of the school. The school is equipped with the latest furniture and school gear - computer equipment, a set of school boards, desks and chairs.

The construction of the new school was carried out by the LEPL Educational and Scientific Infrastructure Development Agency. The total cost of the project amounted to GEL 4 062 718.

To prevent the further spread of COVID-19, owing to the decision of the Interagency Council, headed by the Prime Minister, all students of I-VI grade in Tbilisi, Rustavi, Kutaisi and Zugdidi will return to their respective classrooms, whereas, the students of VII-XII grade in the aforementioned cities will have to remain on the remote learning format until further notice. Starting from October 1, students of all grades in Gori and Poti will also return to their classrooms. The learning process will continue in a remote format throughout Adjara.
