Within the framework of the program “Access to Inclusive Education”, the Tbilisi City Hall continues to provide the children with special educational needs and disabilities with adapted transport. For this purpose, the City Hall purchased four new adapted mini-buses. Tbilisi City Hall, together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, has selected 11 public schools that will be served by these mini-buses. Mayor of Tbilisi, Deputy Minister of Education and Science and Chairperson of the City Council tranferred the adapted transport to 60 public schools today.

At this stage, the adapted transport serves 50 pupils whith wheelchairs and movement problems of Tbilisi Public Schools Nos.4, 130, 107, 117, 21, 60, 71, 138 and 191.

The Tbilisi City Hall started to provide the pupils with adapted transport in 2016. In the future, additional 2 mini-buses will be purchased, which will increase the mobility of people with disabilities and enhance the level of their inclusion in the learning process. The Tbilisi City Hall completely bears the costs of transportation and operation of mini-buses.

The aim of the program is to facilitate the independent and safe movement of pupils with special educational needs and disabilities and their active engagement into the learning process.
