“Let's listen to the future and get ready for it" - an
international conference was held on the International Day of Hearing. The aim
of the conference was to discuss the current issues of hearing
impaired-children in Georgia and design corresponding recommendations on how to
improve the quality of their learning experience.
Within
the scope of the conference, the Memorandum of cooperation was signed, in
conjunction with forming a Council of Advisors, in order to develop
recommendations for the creation of the National Guidelines for the early
intervention.
The
Minister of Education and Science of Georgia – Mikheil Chkhenkeli, and the
Minister of Labor, Health and Social Affairs - David Sergeenko opened the
conference.
“The
major problem of the adolescents with the hearing disabilities is the lack of
an early intervention program. Under these circumstances, unfortunately, there
is a negative impact on the early learning process and thus the overall
academic performance. Consequently, it is our mission to address this issue and
design a program suitable to overcome this problem. That is precisely why; our
Ministry emphasizes the importance of cooperating with the Ministry of Labor,
Health and Social affairs. We are confident, that this coordinated
collaboration will bring positive results,” said Mikheil Chkhenkeli in his
introductory speech.
The
representatives of a charity fund – “Ai ia”, world renowned Georgian and
foreign doctors, specialists and experts participated in the conference.
