Mikheil Chkhenkeli - Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, participated in the International Science Ministerial in Jerusalem, where he met the President of the Bar-Ilan University - Ari Zaban. Additionally, Mikheil Chkhenkeli visited the university research centers, where he spoke with the researchers in person.

The sides discussed the prospects of deepening the existing cooperation between the two countries, to which the President of Bar-Ilan University - Ari Zaban expressed his full support and readiness. Moreover, the president stated, that the Bar-Ilan University is always ready to provide substantial premises for the Georgian scientific community for various science and research purposes.  

Furthermore, during the meeting, which was attended by the Ambassador of Georgia to Israel Paata Kalandadze, the sides agreed that the president Ari Zaban would visit Georgia in the coming future. The aim of the visit is to set forth the plans of cooperation between the Georgian and Israeli higher education institutions.

Bar-Ilan University is one of the first research universities that has existed since 1955 and has left an immense mark in the development of the country with great achievements in science. The university started functioning with only 70 students and today there are approximately 17 000 students enrolled at the university. Four faculties out of eight are science-based. Students have the opportunity to master medicine, applied sciences (physics, chemistry, computer science, biophysics, mathematics and engineering. University faculties are in full compliance with the country’s main initiative.
