Mikheil Chkhenkeli - the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia held an official meeting with the Professor Stephen Michaelson – the Head of Agro Engineering and Biotechnology Department and the Emeritus Professor of Political Sciences – Ardit Mein PhD, of Iowa State University (USA). The Rector of Georgian Technical University – Mr. Archil Prangishvili also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the sides positively evaluated the 15 years-long cooperation between the Georgian Technical University and the State University of Iowa. Moreover, the parties discussed the achievements in the higher education system in conjunction with various innovations implemented throughout the process.

A large part of the meeting was dedicated to reviewing plans that mainly addressed the professional development of teachers. Additionally, it is planned to adapt a well-known US model -"Learning and Teaching Skills Centers" to the Georgian Universities.

Furthermore, the meeting also discussed the issue of establishing vocational colleges under the umbrella of existing Georgian universities. The American side emphasized the model implemented in the United States and expressed readiness for an active cooperation in this regard.
