Acting Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Mikheil Chkhenkeli, who introduced the priorities on the education system to the Members of Parliament at the United Committee Session, also spoke about the important updates in developing the school infrastructure.
According to the Minister, since September 2017, a total of 152 public schools have been renovated, 27 new schools have been constructed, out of which 23 will be totally operational by the 2018-2019 academic year.
The Minister emphasized the crucial role of the Millennium Challenge Account in this process, which has renovated 43 school buildings under the second compact. In addition, Asian Development Bank is actively involved in this regard. According to the agreement, 25 schools will be fully rehabilitated under the loan of the Council of Europe. All new public schools will be fully equipped with an external perimeter surveillance system.
