The role and functions of school security resource officers are increasing. The relevant complex action plan was developed by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Within the new regulations, the function of the Resource Officer, together with the protection of public order, will ensure safety and health environment in schools. Schools will be equipped with CCTV video cameras, whilst the Resource Officer will strengthen the psychological assistance component, with new approaches to retraining. It should be noted that Officers are directly involved in the planning and implementation of educational campaigns and other preventive measures.

Regular meetings with Officers are to be administered in the coming months. Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia - Natia Zedginidze and new head of the Resource Officers Department - Gela Geladze will hold regular meetings with resource officers of Tbilisi schools. At the meeting the sides will discuss the upcoming challenges ways to make school life safer and more student-oriented.
